About Sharri Schmidt
Sharri's Discount Art Supplies was birthed out of necessity after a life altering auto accident. My background was in science and sales. So, it was natural to add these two skills to my love of oil painting. Strange I know. Most artist are totally right brained and very creative. I was bent toward a left brain existence until after the accident when everything shifted. I am now very visual or right brained. Now, that helps me to understand the customer's project and help direct them toward exactly that which will help them accomplish their task. The science background has instilled a curiosity about what makes things work. I like to read and test everything that comes into our store. I can probably tell you what it is and how it works. Together we can determine if that is what you need for your project.
I decided early on that if there were any customers who were interested in art but could not afford the supplies, I would help underwrite their learning process. Most artists are collectors. I collect used supplies, excess inventory from other art suppliers for the this program. Discounts are given to students and teachers. Now, I am pleased to announce our new "Project Hard Hat Zone." I get to try NEW processes. They range from Ceramics, Leather tooling new designs, Bookmaking, Book Sales, Jewelry Projects and Enameling. You know all those interest you wanted to pursue but didn't. I am doing that now and it is FANTASTIC! Come and join me!
I must warn you that my love of animals means there are usually "critters" in the store. I rescue all kinds of wild things as well as farm animals. Since I spend so much time at the store, I have many of the babies from the farm that need a mother's care. I feed the baby goats until they are four weeks old as they have to be fed several times a day. We currently have two Rescue kitties who make mischief all day (and most of the night). They will usually welcome you at the door.
I am happy to be able to share my knowledge or art with others. This is a wonderful time in my life. Thank you for helping me get here.
